Shell

Materials: Aluminum + Hardware
Dimensions: 30cm x 40cm x 10cm
Shell is an elaboration on the shell-shaped leg usually found on cheap plastic stools. The idea was to try and soften sheet metal through large radius bends. In also wanting it to be an economic object it was important it could be sold disassembled. The matte powder coat adds to the softness.

Shell is composed of three parts, two legs and a seat, which assemble easily with four bolts. The aim was to simplify the visual complexity of where parts meet in order to not disrupt the graphic continuity of the form.

The front and back of the seat are subtly rounded over which softens the edge when sat on, this also creates a lip which makes lifting the stool intuitive and easily done with one hand.
